Artificial Conversationalists

Illustration showing is about the cultural impact of speech technology.

Speech recognition allows users to speak to their devices in order to activate or operate them. You may have seen ads for "iPhone 4S" or "Smart TV" for example, where users address their phones as "Siri", greet their computers with "Hi, Dragon", or their TV's with "Hi, TV"  to begin a speech interaction. Gadgets in a Handsfree World.
The impact of this is a reduction of language to simplified commands and progressive decay in communication between humans.

This is the illustration I've come come up with, a conceptual image with a hidden text approach to intensify the idea of abstracted outside world connections, encounters and information.
The hands show interactivity with this "global" chaos and potential decay of human communication.
Black and white illustration, exploring a dream within a nightmare.

2001 A Space Odyssey is the best example of the most nightmarish scenario of sophisticated artificial intelligence.
